Change is for Effectiveness
My south Florida friend, Al Fernandez, entered a good Facebook post that challenges us in our personal lives and in our churches. I guess the old saying is true, "the only one who really likes change is a baby with a wet diaper". Lets embrace the good and become more effective in our ministry. Al's FB post... "The tendency as we become older, is to resist all change in our lives. It still amazes me, when I hear of people in my age bracket who still do not know how to use a computer or smart phone. In my line of ministry work, I unfortunately see a lot of churches that refuse to change their approach to ministry, simply because they are unwilling to get out of their comfort zone and reach new people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s like they cannot control all the drastic changes that are occurring all around them and decide that it will not happen in the one place they have complete control over. For all Christ followers struggling with constant change, let us be comforted in the knowledge that even though our personal lives and yes, our beloved churches must change in how they function in a modern society, the message of the Gospel is unchanging because God is always the same. The very last book in the Bible brings much encouragement about a preferable future and reminds us in Revelation 1: 8, that God clearly said that, “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” So embrace the good and positive change that can help us grow as individuals and our churches once again be “change agent” by proclaiming the unchanging Gospel in a relevant manner!"
